Artist Gordon Ward hails from Nassau (New Providence Island) in the Bahamas. Gordon is a self-taught artist who began painting at an early age. His interest in the acrylic medium began while in high school. He began experimenting with palette knife applications in 1990, and since that time Gordon has developed a subtle technique that is readily evident in his exhibited works. Born in Nassau, Gordon received his high school education at St. John’s College in 1987. He then went on to study International business/marketing in New Jersey, USA. Gordon attained B.Sc. and MBA degrees from St. Peter’s College and Rutgers University respectively. Despite his academic achievements, Gordon has always felt drawn to the challenge of capturing the picturesque scenes of Bahamian life on canvas. Conscientious and inquisitive by nature, Gordon exhibits these traits in the blending of tropical colors and tones, which capture the intricacies, and the essence of the “Bahamian Experience.” Though most of his work centers on tropical settings, Gordon has also created abstract paintings depicting what he provocatively calls “life’s inner toils.” Gordon’s artwork has been featured in exhibitions in northern New Jersey, as well as his native Bahamas. His hobbies include drawing, reading, travelling and singing. |
